2023 Toyota Sienna Preview: Changes, Features, Price

The current generation of Toyota’s well-known minivan has been around for a while and the 2023 Toyota Sienna will represent the third production year. Therefore, we don’t believe there could be bigger changes. Simply, the current model is fresh and it looks pretty impressive from every aspect and it also stands out from the crowd thanks to the efficient hybrid powertrain and excellent ride quality. That’s why we are pretty sure that the next year won’t bring any bigger updates. Of course, things like new color options and more standard features are always possible, while we wouldn’t be surprised if we see some new appearance package or special version either.

All in all, you may count on a familiar layout, which has a lot of great things to offer. We like its efficient powertrain, as well as the well-built cabin, which comes with plenty of standard equipment. The handling is surprisingly engaging, while the biggest complaint goes to the fact that the second-row seats don’t fold flat.

Since no bigger changes are expected, we presume that the 2023 Toyota Sienna will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022.

2023 Toyota Sienna Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation of this minivan is still pretty fresh, so we don’t expect bigger changes for the next year. The overall design will remain the same, which means it will continue to ride on the same TNGA platform, which brings significant improvements regarding handling and ride quality in general.

Also, we wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see some new special version on the offer, we did last year with the new Woodland Edition, which brings not just more standard equipment, but also comes with standard AWD, raised suspension, and tow package. New color options are possible too.

Interior

Interior designs have always been the most important aspect of minivans. The 2023 Toyota Sienna is no exception. Moreover, it surpasses all our expectations regarding interior quality. Simply, it offers finer materials compared to other models in the class, while the build quality is pretty impressive too.

Of course, the level of practicality and overall functionality is pretty impressive too. Three rows of seats are standard and all three accommodate adults with ease. Although many parts are shared with highlander, the interior is actually more generous in terms of passenger space. Furthermore, the driving position is very good and it provides great visibility in all directions.

When it comes to cargo capacity, you may count on 33.5 cubic feet behind the third row. Once you fold it down, the capacity goes over 75 cubic feet. That is a pretty respectable number for the class. Unfortunately, the second row doesn’t fold flat. It can’t be removed either, so the overall cargo volume goes just a little bit over 100 cubic feet, which is way less than you get from rivals like Honda Odyssey and Chrysler Pacifica.

Features

This is where Sienna really shines, so we don’t expect bigger changes for the next year. All models should come standard with a 9-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, seven USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, keyless entry, push-button start, tri-zone automatic climate control, and an in-car intercom. Also, expect to find navigation, HD Radio, eight- and 12-speaker stereos, wireless device charging, a rear-seat entertainment system with an 11.6-inch display, quad-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, and two 120-volt household-style power outlets among options.

When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams, traffic sign recognition etc.

2023 Toyota Sienna Engine

Things under the hood definitely won’t change. The 2023 Toyota Sienna will continue with the same hybrid setup, which combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a couple of electric motors. The total output goes around 245 horsepower. In most situations, electric motors provide instant throttle response, which makes driving dynamics pretty good. However, things aren’t that great when you need real passing power. It these situations, it becomes clear that 245 horsepower isn’t enough for a convenient ride.

The system comes coupled with a CVT gearbox, which does a fine job. It sends power to the front wheels, while models with all-wheel drive is also available.

The best thing about this powertrain is fuel economy. You may count on 36 mpg combined, which is impressive for a minivan.
