2023 Nissan Navara Preview, Specs, Changes

Despite being around since 2014, Nissan Navara is still one of the best mid-size pickups you can find. It represents a great approach to the modern pickup design, which isn’t all about utility, but also provides a high level of comfort and convenience. Still, the competition is very tough, which leads us to the conclusion that the redesign is about to happen in the near future. However, the latest reports suggest this won’t happen before 2024, which clearly indicates that the 2023 Nissan Navara will bring a familiar design, along with familiar features.

Therefore, you may count on a pickup that perfectly combines utility and convenience. It is a capable pickup truck, which comes with pretty refined engines and an excellent suspension setup. It still looks nice from the outside, though we can’t say the same about the interior design. All in all, it remains one of the better choices in the class.

Since bigger changes probably won’t happen, we presume it will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Nissan Navara Design

As we already mentioned, the current generation has been around since 2014. However, it doesn’t feel outdated in any way, especially after the 2020 update, which has brought some minor styling updates and more safety features. The styling is nice and clear, which is the reason why this pickup has aged so well.

Still, we don’t believe that the potential buyers will care all that much about the styling. What’s more important about this pickup is its highly competent chassis and suspension setup. Namely, this pickup comes standard with independent rear suspension, which is one of the reasons why it’s among the most comfortable pickups on the market. At the same time, it is a pretty capable machine, which can tow 3500kg with ease, which is the gold standard of the class.

Furthermore, there is also the Pro-4X trim, which brings some nice styling bits and, more importantly, additional off-road hardware.

On the other hand, the cabin hasn’t aged all that well. It looks a little bit old but that’s usually the case with all pickup trucks, which are rather about durability than aesthetics. Still, everything looks reasonably nice and more importantly, these materials proved to be very durable.

Speaking of the materials, base models will bring you things like a plastic steering wheel and gear lever. Mid-range models fix that and come with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome door handles and upgraded cloth upholstery. Leather upholstery is reserved for range-topping models only. Also, higher trim levels come standard with an 8-inch touchscreen and decent infotainment system, which includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration as well.

2023 Nissan Navara Engines

In most markets, the Navara comes with Renault’s familiar 2.3-liter turbodiesel. This engine is available in two variants, with either 163 or 190 horsepower. The difference in terms of driving dynamics isn’t significant but the more powerful engine does offer more low-end torque, which makes towing and hauling much smoother.

Another big difference is that the base engine comes with a 6-speed manual only, while the 190-hp unit is also available with a pretty smooth 7-speed automatic gearbox. The max towing capacity goes up to 3500kg.

In some parts of the world, you can also find a good-old 2.5-liter inline-four petrol engine, with a max output of around 155 horsepower and 232 Nm of torque.

2023 Nissan Navara Release Date

Since there are no significant changes to come, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Nissan Navara release date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year. The competition remains the same. Some of the key rivals are models like Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, Mitsubishi L200 etc.
