2023 Lexus RX Redesign: What We Know So Far

The legendary mid-size luxury SUV has been around for nearly 25 years and it is still by far the most popular model in its class, despite that the segment has become extremely crowded. Moreover, this is also the most popular Lexus model in North America. However, the current generation has been around since 2016 and the company feels it’s time for changes. According to the latest reports, the new generation will arrive by the end of this year, as the 2023 Lexus RX.

The upcoming redesign is about to bring so many novelties, reports say. Of course, one of the first things that come to mind is the platform, the new TNGA architecture. Furthermore, we are about to see new things in various aspects, starting from the new styling, new interior design and all kinds of new tech features. Finally, the powertrain lineup is expected to be completely revised, with gasoline, hybrid and plug-in hybrid version on the offer.

2023 Lexus RX Design

The 2023 Lexus RX will receive a complete redesign and we count on some pretty big novelties. First of all, we are about to see a new platform. While the outgoing model still rides on the old K platform, the new version will ride on the TNGA architecture, which will bring improvements in various aspects. Of course, one of the will be the ride quality, which will be much more engaging, thanks to the lower center of gravity. However, we are pretty sure that the new model will also be more about comfort than athleticism.

Naturally, the new platform will also open a whole new world of technologies and that particularly refers to the new powertrain options. Count on new hybrid technologies, new batteries and many other things.

Exterior

Of course, this redesign will also bring a completely new exterior design. Compared to the outgoing model, the new 2023 Lexus RX will feature a longer wheelbase and bigger dimensions. However, we probably won’t see a three-row version, as the company prepares a brand-new three-row crossover called TX. The RX will remain only as a two-row crossover, which will continue to compete with German rivals like BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.

Naturally, we will also see a completely new styling. The new look should bring evolutionary changes only, just like the new NX has brought. We count on a similar design approach, which should provide an even more elegant look than before.

Interior

As we’ve just mentioned, the new generation will be offered only as a two-row SUV. Still, it will get a completely new interior design. We expect to see a similar approach as in the outgoing model, which features excellent build quality and looks very elegant. The new model will improve these things even more, and also offer even finer materials than before. Of course, we also count on all kinds of new tech features. Most likely, we will see the same 14-inch infotainment screen as in the new NX, as well as a digital instrument cluster as standard features.

Both rows of seats should be very generous with space, while we expect that the new cargo area will offer much more room compared to the outgoing model.

2023 Lexus RX Engines

At this point, there are a lot of things to be clarified regarding the new powertrain lineup. However, the current V6 will most likely be replaced with the new 2.4-liter turbo-four. This engine features a max output of 275 horsepower, which is less than the current V6. However, it should offer better driving dynamics, thanks to the much more torque (317 lb-ft). After all, it may get a few more horses for this occasion.

Besides the gasoline powertrain, we expect to see at least two hybrid versions. One of them could be the same system found in the Highlander, with 245 horsepower and excellent fuel economy. Furthermore, the plug-in hybrid setup from the NX with more than 300 horsepower could be offered too.

However, many believe that the Lexus engineers will offer something more exclusive for their best-selling model. Some rumors speculate about the new hybrid system, based on a 2.4-liter turbo-four, which would offer more than 350 horsepower.

The officials are still quiet about the new powertrain lineup.

2023 Lexus RX Release Date and Price

We believe that the all-new 2023 Lexus RX will be ready to hit the market by the end of this year. If not, we will see it in the first half of 2023. We estimate that the base price will go somewhere between 46.000 and 48.000 dollars.
