If we consider that the current generation of Isuzu’s well-known pickup truck has been around for about three years, it’s no wonder that several sources suggest a mid-cycle update for the next year. According to them, the 2023 Isuzu D-Max is about to get a set of novelties, which will make it even more competitive in this highly-demanding market. Considering that the competition is getting tougher and tougher every year, this makes perfect sense.
At this point, the officials are still quiet about this update. On the other hand, the unofficial reports suggest that this refresh is going to be mostly about styling updates. We are about to see new styling, along with certain interior tweaks. On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle probably won’t change, rumors say.
The 2023 Isuzu D-Max is expected to hit the market by the end of this year.
2023 Isuzu D-Max Design
If we can trust rumors, the 2023 Isuzu D-Max will receive a mid-cycle refresh. At this point, we can only speculate about the changes but it makes perfect sense to expect mostly visual updates. This particularly refers to the front-end design, which could get revisions in various areas, such as headlights, grille, bumper etc. Also, we could see things like new color options and wheels, while the introduction of some special appearance package is always possible.
On the other hand, we don’t expect bigger changes regarding mechanics. This generation came completely new, with Isuzu’s original design. The cooperation with GM has ended and the Japanese manufacturer now makes this pickup completely on its own. The chassis and suspension setup is on the firm side, as utility is still the top priority in this case. So, the D-Max may have a firm ride but on the other hand, every version of the pickup can tow 3.5 tons and haul more than 1 ton.
Interior
When it comes to interior design, Isuzu surprised the automotive world with the last redesign. We saw a pretty interesting cabin design, with a lot of car-like solutions, which wasn’t the case with this pickup in the past. Therefore, we don’t believe that the 2023 Isuzu D-Max could bring bigger changes in this aspect. Of course, novelties in terms of tech features are always possible, though the current model already features a pretty decent infotainment system and a decent list of tech features in general.
On the other hand, we are about to familiar configurations on the offer regarding cabin design. You may count on both single and double cab versions on the offer, where each one offers a decent amount of space.
2023 Isuzu D-Max Engines
Changes under the hood won’t come and Isuzu will remain focused on two diesel units. Base models will continue with a small and efficient 1.9-liter turbodiesel, which puts out around 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, which should be enough for the daily tasks of most drivers. On the other hand, there is a more capable 3.0-liter turbodiesel, also with four cylinders, which was introduced a few years ago. This engine puts out around 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque and offers pretty strong overall performance while remaining reasonably efficient.
Both engines come with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. Both transmissions are produced by Aisin and both do a great job. As we already mentioned, every version of the pickup can tow 3.500kg and haul more than 1.000kg.
2023 Isuzu D-Max Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2023 Isuzu D-Max sometime in the last quarter of the year. Of course, the price will differ from market to market. In Australia, the starting price should go around 31.000 dollars, while key competitors will be models like Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger etc.
