The current generation of Honda’s pickup has been around since 2016 and if we consider that the previous generation was active for a full decade, it’s quite obvious that the current model will remain in production for some more time. At this point, we don’t know for how long, but we know it will need updates. Speaking of the updates, one of the rumors we can hear these days is about a hybrid powertrain for this pickup. Allegedly, this version could come already in the next year, as the 2023 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid.
Although various sources claim that this Japanese manufacturer won’t bother with hybridization too much and that it will soon start offering all-electric vehicles, it looks like that process won’t go so smoothly. For that reason, we may see a couple of new hybrid systems, besides the existing ones. This particularly refers to something that would power bigger models in the lineup, including the Ridgeline.
At this point, the officials are still quiet on this matter, so we can rely only on rumors.

2023 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid Powertrain
Of course, the most interesting aspect of the 2023 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid would be its powertrain. As we’ve just mentioned, the company currently offers a couple of hybrid systems, but those are mainly for smaller vehicles. The Ridgeline would require something more powerful, so it’s no wonder that many sources suggest a completely new system.
Some rumors speculate about a system that would be based on a turbo-four engine. Allegedly, the new system would be based on the same engine that powers the Accord, which puts out around 252 horsepower. The engine would get help from a couple of electric motors, so the total output would go around 300 horsepower. That seems like a proper amount of power for a mid-size pickup.
We would expect to see this system paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid Design
Other than the powertrain, the 2023 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid wouldn’t feature bigger design differences compared to the standard gasoline-powered model. So, we would see the same overall layout, which has a lot of things in common with models like Pilot and Passport.
In other words, the Ridgeline is a pickup that rides on a unibody platform, which is a pretty uncommon design solution for a mid-size pickup. Such a design brings both positive and negative sides. It is less capable in terms of towing and hauling but on the other hand, the ride quality is way superior to models like Chevy Colorado or Toyota Tacoma.
Visually, things won’t change, as we saw a facelift last year. The current iteration looks not only modern, but also very rugged and muscular, so there’s no doubt that buyers will be finding it attractive for several more years. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see the hybrid version with some exclusive color options or other unique features.
Interior
This aspect definitely wouldn’t bring any notable changes. The 2023 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid would come with a familiar cabin, which looks very car-like. The dashboard looks very similar to the one in Pilot, which means that you may count on very good build quality, nice materials and attractive aesthetics. Furthermore, the cabin comes equipped with lots of tech features, which makes it look even nicer.
The 2023 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid would come in a crew cab layout only. It is one of the biggest cabins in the segment and, when combined with the pickup’s excellent ride quality, provides class-leading comfort. The ride is super-smooth, while five adults can accommodate with ease.
Features
In terms of standard and available equipment, we wouldn’t expect to see any bigger surprises. Therefore, base models would come standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, a seven-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, proximity keyless entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, a universal garage door opener, and remote start. Among upgrades, there should be goodies like satellite radio, two rear USB ports, HD Radio, satellite-linked navigation, voice recognition, an eight-speaker premium stereo, wireless device charging, in-bed speakers, a moonroof, a power-sliding rear window, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, and an in-bed power outlet.
The same is with safety features. So, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control and more.
2023 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid Release Date and Price
Although still just a rumor, we believe that the 2023 Honda Ridgeline Hybrid could arrive already by the end of this year. Also, we estimate that the base price could go around 42-45.000 dollars.
