Hyundai’s luxury brand will continue to impress. Those are the latest reports we are getting from our reliable insiders, as the Korean luxury prepares a new flagship model, which will hit the market as the 2023 Genesis GV90. The company is entering the full-size luxury segment, where it will compete with models like Mercedes-Benz GLS, BMW X7 etc. Of course, we are talking about a full-size luxury crossover, which will be the most luxurious Genesis we’ve seen so far.
The new SUV will arrive along with the second generation of the company’s full-size sedan, which is coming completely redesigned for the 2023 model year. The two models will share most of the parts. So, we expect nothing but the ultimate luxury from the brand-new 2023 Genesis GV90. This also means that we are about to see a couple of pretty capable powertrain options, including one with a mild-hybrid setup.
The all-new SUV will hit the market either late this year or in the first half of 2023.
2023 Genesis GV90 Design
Design-wise, we know what to expect from the 2023 Genesis GV90, at least to some point. As we’ve just mentioned, it will share most of the parts with the upcoming second-generation G90 sedan. It will bring some pretty interesting design solutions. This indicates that the new SUV would probably feature the same wheelbase, which would go up to 125.2 inches, which is longer compared to the German rivals.
When it comes to the styling, we expect a lot of smooth lines, along with a sleek profile. The traditional SUV shape will be complemented with rounded edges, which will provide that premium feel with no mistake. The front end should look very similar to the G90 and include parts like a massive diamond-shaped grille, two-line headlights with cube-shaped projection lights etc.
Interior
The interior should also look very similar to the sedan sibling, especially in terms of the dashboard design. Moreover, the dash and the front part of the cabin should look largely the same. We’ve already seen the G90’s dash, so we know what to expect. The new cabin brings a super-high level of craftsmanship, combined with high-quality materials and advanced tech and convenience features. The dashboard features mostly horizontal lines and relatively shapes, which make it look very elegant. At the same time, massive infotainment and instrument cluster screens make it look very high-tech.
Considering the wheelbase, we expect nothing less but a cavernous cabin. Of course, three rows of seats will be standard and all three should be spacious and comfortable enough to accommodate adult passengers with ease. The cargo area should also provide some pretty impressive numbers, maybe even comparable with some BoF luxury SUVs, such as Lincoln Navigator.
2023 Genesis GV90 Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, things will once again be the same as in the second-generation G90. Therefore, you may count on two powertrain options. Base models will feature a familiar 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which puts out around 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque.
On the other hand, more expensive models will get a new version of this engine, which comes with a mild-hybrid 48V system. The total output will go up to 409 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque.
Both powertrains will come in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission, designed by Hyundai.
2023 Genesis GV90 Release Date and Price
The officials are still quiet about this model but if we can trust unofficial reports, the brand-new 2023 Genesis GV90 could arrive already in late 2022, or in the first half of the next year. We estimate that the base price could go around 80.000 dollars.
