The current generation of the iconic pickup truck has been around for a while but it is still fresh enough for bigger changes. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the next year’s model will keep familiar design characteristics. However, that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing novelties. There are two pretty interesting versions to come. Of course, the first one is the highly anticipated Raptor R with a supercharged V8 engine. The other one will be called Rattler and it will be a fantastic choice for off-road oriented drivers.
On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same. There are so many things to like about this truck, starting from an impressive range of versions and customization options on the offer. Furthermore, we like the wide palette of capable engine options, as well as the class-leading towing capacity.
All versions are expected to arrive in the second half of the year, though some of them could come earlier than the others. This particularly refers to the Raptor R model.
2023 Ford F-150 Design
Design-wise, the 2023 Ford F-150 will carry on in the same way. The current generation was introduced in 2021 and it has brought evolutionary changes compared to the previous generation. The current truck is characterized by aluminum and HSS body and chassis, which makes it lighter than its rivals. The ride is also pretty smooth, though not as smooth as the Ram 1500’s ride.
One of the most interesting novelties for the next year will be the introduction of the Rattler model, which will be an affordable off-road version. What’s great about it is that it will be based on the XL trim, without too many convenience features. On the other hand, count on some pretty serious hardware, which includes goodies like a dual-exhaust system, hill-descent control, a locking rear differential, and an off-road suspension system. The latest reports suggest that this model will cost just 40.000 dollars.
The new cabin features a lot of great things and it is definitely a great improvement when compared to the previous generation. The dashboard looks nice and comes with a full load of tech features, including the optional, pretty massive infotainment screen. The sound insulation is also good, though we have to say that Ram’s cabin still looks nicer and more premium.
On the other hand, the F-150 offers plenty of space, no matter the version you pick. The crew cab model is particularly generous with space, probably with class-leading passenger space in the second row. Of course, the next year’s model will continue in a wide range of available configurations, which includes three familiar cab styles, as well as three bed sizes – 5.5-, 6.5-, or 8-foot beds.
Other than the two new versions, the next year’s model will continue with the familiar trim level organization. Therefore, you may count on a wide range of models, such as XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited etc.
The base model comes with essential features only, such as an 8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, multiple USB ports, and Bluetooth. Base models also come with a couple of safety features, such as a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.
Of course, there is much more to get in higher trim levels, including tech and convenience features like a 12-inch touch screen, navigation, an eight- or 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, and remote start.
The list of available driver-assistance features should include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-trafic alert, traffic sign recognition, surround-view camera, automatic park assist and many more.
2023 Ford F-150 Engines
The engine offer will be wide, despite that the diesel version has been discontinued. Of course, the offer starts with a good-old 3.3-liter V6, which puts out 290 horsepower. A 2.7-liter turbo V6 is next in the line, with a max output of 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
Traditional truckers may count on a good-old V8 power that comes from the well-known 5.0-liter Coyote, which puts out around 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Still, the most capable engine in the lineup is the 3.5-liter twin-turboV6, which puts out 400, 430, or 450 horsepower, depending on the version you pick. Of course, the latter is reserved for the Raptor trim.
The highly-anticipated Raptor R is expected to come with a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, the same one that powers Shelby GT500. The exact numbers are yet to come but we are pretty sure that the max output will go over 700 horsepower, in order to much the monstrous Ram TRX.
