Last year, Chrysler dropped its affordable minivan from the offer and left it available as a fleet vehicle only. However, it looks like things could change once again with the 2023 Chrysler Voyager. Due to the ongoing economical crisis and constant lack of semi-conductors, the company may offer this vehicle to the general public once again, in order to compensate the lack of Pacifica models on the offer. However, this is still just a rumor and we are still waiting for the officials to say something more about this.
In any case, if the 2023 Chrysler Voyager becomes available to the general public once again, we don’t expect bigger changes. So, the overall design will certainly remain the same, based on the pre-facelfted Pacifica. This is a spacious and capable minivan, which may lack some modern features but comes at a pretty affordable price.
We expect to see it available sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2023 Chrysler Voyager Design
Design-wise, we don’t expect to see any surprises. The 2023 Chrysler Voyager will carry one with the same design, based on the Compact Wide platform. It features an FF layout, with a front-mounted engine and front-wheel drive. The overall design is pretty much the same as on the pre-facelifted Pacifica. This particularly refers to the styling, which doesn’t feature any significant difference.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect is pretty much identical. This includes the suspension setup as well, which provides a quite smooth and comfortable ride. The Voyager is comfortable but also very easy to drive. Despite the size, it feels quite easy to maneuver in tight spaces.
The Voyager features one of the lowest starting prices in the segment, so you should be ready for some compromises. This particularly refers to the interior quality. The cabin looks nice, but there are some areas with hard plastics and other low-rent materials. However, those are mainly the lower sections of the cabin, while the upper part of the dashboard looks very nice.
Besides decent quality, this cabin also offers a high level of comfort and convenience. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, while those behind are equally good. The second row accommodates adult passengers with ease, while the third row is pretty useful as well. Also, it’s worth mentioning that the driver’s seat is power-adjustable, so it’s quite easy to find a good position.
When it comes to cargo capacity, there are 32.3 cubic feet of space behind its third row. Once you fold the third row down, you get 87.5 cubic feet, while the total cargo volume goes up to 140.5 cubic feet. These are very good ratings for the class, while we also like the fact that the Voyager comes with Stow ‘N Go seats, which means that you don’t have to remove them physically to use the maximum cargo space.
This aspect should bring bigger changes, so the list of standard equipment should be pretty similar to the current model. Therefore, base versions should come with goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a six-speaker stereo. Considering that we are talking about a budget-oriented minivan, it makes sense that there aren’t many optional features on the offer. Practically, the only upgrades you can get are goodies like remote start, a DVD player and satellite radio. If you need more than that, then check the more upscale Chrysler Pacifica.
The same is with safety features, so the only standard feature you get is a rearview camera. Additionally, you can get goodies like rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
2023 Chrysler Voyager Engine
We expect that the 2023 Chrysler Voyager will continue with the same 3.6-liter V6 engine. This unit puts out around 287 horsepower, which is plenty enough to move this minivan with ease, even when fully loaded. Driving dynamics are pretty good, while the 9-speed automatic transmission also does a pretty good job. As we already mentioned, you can only get models with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel-drive comes with a more expensive Pacifica.
When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on something like 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, which seems pretty good for the segment.
2023 Chrysler Voyager Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Chrysler Voyager will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 31.000 dollars.
