2023 Chevy Silverado EV: What We Know So Far

The process of electrification in the pickup segment has started and while everyone talks about models like Tesla Cybertruck or the F-150 Lightning, Chevy has almost finished the development of its all-electric pickup, which will come with the well familiar nameplate, probably already in the next year. It will come as the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV and from what we know so far, it will have a lot of interesting things to offer.

Of course, the Silverado EV will share design solutions with other EV models in GM’s lineup, particularly the GMC Hummer EV. However, it will bring another quality to the table – an attractive price. It will be slightly more expensive than a gas-powered Silverado, but it will give a lot in return.

As we already mentioned, the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV will hit the market pretty soon.

From what we can see in the photos, the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV will take a lot of inspiration from the standard Silverado. The styling looks pretty similar, especially the front end, which utilizes familiar headlights and other design solutions. On the other hand, the closed grille clearly indicates the model’s all-electric nature and from what we know so far, the new pickup will be offered in just one body style, as a crew cab truck.

On the other hand, things will be completely different under the skin. The 2023 Silverado EV will ride on a completely different platform and share most of its parts with GMC Hummer EV. This means it will use GM’s new Ultium battery technology, which should ensure a respectable range and all kinds of charging options.

Interior

AS we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV will probably come in just one layout, with a crew cab design. This means two rows of seats and a capacity for five passengers, in a combination with a short bed. Still, that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing regular cab models in the future.

The 2023 Silverado EV will feature a simple but elegant-looking dashboard design. It will combine simplistic design with modern tech features, which should work well in this case. Speaking of the tech features. some of the biggest highlights will be a massive 17-inch infotainment screen, along with the 11-inch digital instrument cluster. Furthermore, you may count on all kinds of other tech goodies, such as wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, satellite radio etc. We also count on all kinds of driver-assistance features, including a semi-autonomous driving system.

At this point, we know for sure about two versions that are about to be offered in the 2023 Chevy Silverado EV. Both will feature four-wheel drive. Base models will feature a combination of electric motors with a total output of 510 horsepower, which will be enough to ensure the max towing capacity of 8.000 pounds. A more powerful version, reserved for higher trim levels, will feature a max output of 664 horsepower and besides quicker acceleration, it will also ensure a max towing capacity of 10.000 pounds. The company also promises a 20.000-pound version in the future.

As we already mentioned, the 2023 Silverado EV will feature GM’s new Ultium battery technology. We are still waiting for the official details, but some sources suggest a 200-kWh battery pack, which would ensure up to 400 miles. Also, the company promises all kinds of charging options, including a fast DC charger, which will be able to add 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
