In the world of pickup trucks, this model stands out for superior comfort and ride quality, while being one of the most capable half-ton trucks on the market at the same time. Given all the novelties that came with the last redesign and considering the monstrous TRX model that arrived last year, it’s pretty much for sure that the next year won’t bring any particular update. Still, that doesn’t mean we’ll be left without any novelty, considering that the 2022 RAM 1500 is about to receive a new Trailer 360 Camera View. Other than that, things are about to remain the same.
This means that you may count on a familiar layout, on a design that provides a smooth and comfortable ride. Also, you may count on the most luxurious cabin in the segment by far, as well as on a pretty long list of standard and available equipment. Finally, there are some really powerful engine options on offer. We expect to see the new model sometime in the second half of the year.
2022 RAM 1500 Design
In terms of base design characteristics, we don’t expect to see any particular change. The current generation has been around for a couple of years and it is still fresh enough to carry on without bigger updates. Simply, the last overhaul has brought a lot of changes and improvements, starting from a new platform that provides impressive ride quality, way superior compared to rivals like F-150 and Silverado. Furthermore, there is an optional adjustable air suspension, which is something you can’t get in any other pickup truck, something that makes the ride quality even more impressive.
Bigger styling changes aren’t expected either, though we won’t exclude the possibility of new color options, as well as some new appearance packages. Still, the overall look will certainly remain the same.
Interior
Once again, we don’t expect to see bigger changes. Simply, the current cabin looks way too good to be changed. The dashboard is something we particularly like. It looks attractive and comes with the excellent build quality. Furthermore, materials are impressive so much that higher trim levels can easily be compared with any SUV on the market. Of course, a long list of advanced tech features, including a massive 12-inch touchscreen, makes the cabin look even more upscale.
One of the interesting things, which accentuates Ram’s luxury approach, is the offer of cab styles. While most trucks come in three cab styles, this one includes just two. Standard models come in a Quad Cab layout, which is a kind of extended cab. The other style in the offer is a typical Crew Cab model. Also, there are two bed sizes in the offer, a 5-foot-7-inch unit and a longer, 6-feet-4-inches variant.
Features
As we already mentioned, the new Trailer 360 Camera View system will be one of the biggest novelties for the next year. Other than that, we expect no bigger changes. Base models will come with goodies like push-button start, a 5-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, USB ports, six speakers, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. In higher trim levels, you can get an 8.4- or 12-inch touch screen, three premium audio systems, satellite radio, HD Radio, navigation, additional USB ports, wireless device charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a sunroof and dual-zone climate control.
The list of available safety features is really impressive. It includes things like a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, a surround-view parking camera system, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and parallel and perpendicular park assist.
2022 RAM 1500 Engine
This aspect definitely won’t bring changes. Base models will continue with a good-old 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 305 horsepower. Those who are looking for something more capable may count on a well-known 5.7-liter HEMI V8, which features a max output of 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.
Of course, the 2022 RAM 1500 TRX will also continue in the same way. This high-performance version comes with a monstrous 6.2-liter Supercharged Hellcat engine, which is good for 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
Finally, there is a diesel version, equipped with a 3.0-liter V6, which puts out around 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
All engines come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.
2022 RAM 1500 Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2022 RAM 1500 sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 29.000 dollars.
