The iconic SUV has been around for decades and it doesn’t plan to stop. We could say the same for the current generation, which has been with us for a full 11 years. During this production cycle, we saw a couple of updates and the biggest one happened last year. On that occasion, we saw a completely new styling, as well as a new cabin design on some markets, as well as a slight engine power boost. All in all, we are pretty sure that the current model will remain in production for some more time and that the 2022 Nissan Patrol will feature no bigger changes. As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation has been around for more than a decade. Still, that’s not a handicap at all. Quite the opposite, this chassis is still pretty impressive and provides pretty engaging handling for a vehicle of this size.
On the other hand, the styling has been updated last year. We saw a significant makeover, which includes almost a completely new look. The biggest novelties came at the front, where we can see new, futuristic headlights, along with other styling elements that are bold, prominent and look very futuristic. All in all, it’s hard to expect any modification for the next year. Even new color options don’t sound particularly likely.
Interior
On the other hand, things are a little bit trickier on the inside. Now, we have two versions of the Patrol. On one side, the Australian model still uses an old dashboard design, which is easy to be recognized by a dual-screen setup on the center stack. On the other hand, the Middle East version received a new design, characterized by a new, tablet-like touchscreen, the same one as in the Armada. Some sources suggest that the new dashboard could come to Australia as well, but the officials are still quiet.
Of course, the overall cabin layout will remain the same. The 2022 Nissan Patrol interior will continue to offer plenty of space, with standard three rows. The first two rows are very generous with space, while the third row can also be pretty useful. The cargo area is large and expansive.
2022 Nissan Patrol Engine
Things under the hood will certainly remain the same. You may count on the same 5.6-liter V8, which has been updated recently. It now features 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, which is more than enough to provide a convenient ride. Moreover, driving dynamics are actually pretty impressive, while the ride is smooth, thanks to a well-designed 7-speed automatic transmission.
Some sources suggest the possibility to see the 2022 Nissan Patrol diesel but are pretty sure that Nissan won’t be offering an oil-burner in the future.
2022 Nissan Patrol NISMO
This version isn’t a new thing. It is already available in the Middle East, where it comes with a couple of pretty interesting upgrades. For example, the engine has more power and counts up to 430 horses. Furthermore, this version features suspension upgrades, which include new Bilstein shocks and many other tweaks. Naturally, this model also comes with a lot of visual modifications that accentuate the model’s hi-performance character.
According to some sources, this version could be offered in other parts of the world as well, particularly in Australia. Some even speculate about the NISMO version of Armada in North America. However, keep in mind that the officials are still quiet about the 2022 Nissan Patrol NISMO, so we should take all this with a big reserve.
