Things in the world of full-size body-on-frame SUVs aren’t happening that fast, so it’s no wonder that the Armada was just refreshed last year, despite a decade-old design. Simply, the Japanese manufacturer believes the current generation can remain competitive for several more years and that clearly indicates that the 2022 Nissan Armada will come without more important changes. We are about to see a familiar layout, which still has a lot of good things to offer. Of course, there is always a chance to see smaller updates, such as new standard features.
All in all, you may count on an SUV that still has a lot of good things to offer. It features a strong V8 engine and offers solid driving dynamics. Furthermore, we like its interior, which features great overall quality and comes with a long list of features. However, this model isn’t without flaws. We don’t like the fact that mpg ratings are pretty low. Also, most rivals offer more space in the third row.

2022 Nissan Armada Design
Despite being introduced in 2016, the current generation of this SUV actually features a decade-old design. Things are pretty much the same as in the legendary Patrol, which has been unchanged since 2010. Still, the ride quality is still pretty good, as well as off-road performances. In terms of the styling, the recent update has brought a completely new front end. It looks pretty futuristic and there is no doubt it will keep this model looking fresh for several years.
On the other side, we can hear rumors about the 2022 Nissan Armada Nismo. The Patrol is already available in such a version, with the upgraded engine, suspension, brakes, styling etc. However, the officials are still quiet and we believe that the chance to see such a version in North America is very small.
Interior
The recent update has also brought novelties on the inside. There is a new touchscreen, as well as some nice revisions to the center stack. Also, there is a plethora of new standard features. So, the 2022 Nissan Armada interior should continue in the same way. Even before the update, this SUV featured a pretty impressive build quality and there is no doubt things will remain the same in the future.
Besides high level of quality, this SUV also offers a quite comfortable and spacious cabin. We particularly like the front seats, which are massive and supports. The second row is also quite spacious. On the other side, the third row isn’t too tight but rivals like Chevy Tahoe and Ford Expedition offer more space in this row. The same story is with the cargo area. Numbers like 16.5 cubic feet of space behind its third-row seats, 49.9 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 95.4 of the total cargo space sound okay, but rivals offer more.
Features
Here, we can see some novelties. However, most of the things are about to remain the same as in the current model, which already comes with a pretty long list of standard equipment. All models come with goodies like dual-zone climate control, 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can get a moonroof, a 13-speaker Bose audio system and a rear-seat entertainment system.
When it comes to safety features, the current model comes standard with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, driver drowsiness monitoring, adaptive cruise control, vehicle exit warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. Additionally, you can pay extra for a surround-view parking camera system, traffic sign recognition, and a rearview mirror camera.
2022 Nissan Armada Engine
The 2022 Nissan Armada will continue with a good-old 5.6-liter V8, which received an update last year. It now features more power and torque, 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, which provides pretty solid driving dynamics. Acceleration is pretty good, while we also like the 7-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty good job.
What we don’t like is fuel economy. In the best scenario, you can get 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway, which is among the lowest ratings in the segment. When properly equipped, this SUV can tow up to 8.500 pounds.
2022 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price
As there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of 2021. The 2022 Nissan Armada price should also remain pretty much the same as for the current model, which starts at around 49.000 dollars.
