After the last year’s redesign, we are pretty sure that the 2022 GMC Yukon will come without more important changes. Simply, updates for the second production year are really rare and we are pretty sure that this large SUV won’t be an exception. Still, that doesn’t mean that we can exclude the possibility to see minor updates in terms of new features and color options.
Still, the overall layout will certainly remain the same. This means that you may count on an SUV that has been redesigned last year, which has a lot of great things to offer. It is spacious, easy to drive and well equipped. Also, it comes with three quite capable engine options on the offer. Also, you may count on a couple of exclusive versions, such as Denali and AT4 trims.
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come, we presume that the 2022 GMC Yukon release date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
2022 GMC Yukon Design
As we already mentioned, this SUV has just been redesigned, so it’s hard to expect any particular change for the next year. We count on the same design, which is based on GM’s new T1 platform, which has brought a lot of important improvements, including weight reduction, independent rear suspension, better driving characteristics etc.
Of course, the styling will remain the same as well. The new model looks really great, as it takes a lot of inspiration from Sierra. Speaking of the styling, the 2022 GMC Yukon Denali will continue to deliver exclusive aesthetical solutions such as grille, wheels etc.
The 2022 GMC Yukon AT4 will also continue to offer exclusive styling features, as well as some nice off-road hardware, such as a 4×4 drive, two-speed transfer case, skid plates, and hill descent control.
Interior
This aspect won’t bring bigger changes either. Simply, the recent redesign has brought a lot of new things and the new cabin looks really good. Standard models come with a dashboard that features a tablet-like infotainment screen. On the other side, Denali models feature a touchscreen that is integrated into the dash and generally look more upscale, thanks to finer materials, different steering wheel etc.
Still, the best thing about this SUV is the amount of space. Just like the new Tahoe, the 2022 GMC Yukon interior will also continue to offer plenty of passenger room. With more than nearly 121 inches in wheelbase, it’s no wonder that all three rows offer plenty of space to accommodate adults.
The cargo area is as impressive. You may count on about 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 72.6 cubic feet with the third-row seats folded down and 122.9 cubic feet. Those are impressive numbers and if that isn’t enough, you can always get Yukon XL.
Features
We could definitely see a couple of novelties in terms of standard equipment. Still, keep in mind that the current model is already pretty generous in this aspect and that the possible updates would be minor. The current model already comes standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six speakers, satellite radio, HD Radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, six USB ports, and Bluetooth. Additionally, you can get things like navigation, a panoramic sunroof, a power-sliding center console, a rear-seat entertainment system etc.
The same thing is with safety features. The current model already comes with a pretty long list of standard safety goodies. Some of the highlights are a rearview camera, a rear-seat reminder, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, front and rear parking sensors etc.
2022 GMC Yukon Engines
We have no doubt that the 2022 GMC Yukon will continue with three familiar engine options in the offer. Base models will continue to use a 5.3-liter V8, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. While this engine has enough power to move this SUV confidently, we would always recommend you to consider the bigger 6.2-liter unit, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
If you find these gasoline engines too thirsty, you can always opt for the diesel version. This model comes with a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which is good for about 277 horsepower. Also, this engine provides a massive 460 pound-feet of torque, which allows it to move this SUV with ease.
All three engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2022 GMC Yukon Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come, we presume that the 2022 GMC Yukon will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. Bigger price changes aren’t expected either, so base models should go around 51.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Ford Expedition, Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia etc.
