The current generation of this Australian SUV has been around since2015 and even though it isn’t that old by the segment standards, it looks like the Blue Oval company is preparing a new version. The next generation is on the way and from what we can see, it will bring evolutionary changes. Of course, it will come with the next-generation Ranger, and it will bring improvements in various aspects. We believe it could make a debut already as the 2022 Ford Everest.
The testing model has already been spotted on the road and from what we can see through the camouflage, the overall shape and size will remain pretty familiar. On the other hand, we count on a completely new styling, as well as on notable improvements regarding mechanics. This particularly refers to the engine lineup, which will bring a couple of very interesting novelties. Some reports even speculate about the Raptor version, but we would take that with a reserve.
2022 Ford Everest Redesign
Without any doubt, this redesign will bring a lot of novelties. However, most of the changes will be evolutionary. This particularly refers to the platform. Just like the next-generation Ranger, the new 2022 Ford Everest will continue to ride on a familiar T6 architecture, developed by the Australian department of the Blue Oval company. However, we will see significant updates, especially in terms of the suspension setup. The new model will be much better to drive, especially on the road. Of course, off-road performance should be as good as in the current model.
When it comes to styling, we presume that a lot of things will be shared with the new Ranger. Of course, we are talking about the front end, which should look pretty similar. We count on the same design language, but on a couple of exclusive details as well. The test mule still wears a complete camouflage, so more details should be known in the future. The overall shape, on the other hand, shouldn’t bring any surprise. You may count on a typical SUV shape and we believe that the new 2022 Ford Everest will keep similar dimensions as the current model.
Interior
The current cabin has a lot of room for improvements and we presume that the 2022 Ford Everest will bring some of them. This particularly refers to the dashboard design, which will definitely look more modern in the new model. One of the things we’ve noticed in the testing model is that it features a huge, tablet-like infotainment screen on the center stack. This Tesla-like screen will probably be optional, while base models will probably come with some smaller unit.
When it comes to the interior space, we’ve already mentioned that the new model should keep similar proportions. Therefore, the amount of passenger and cargo room should remain similar as well. Therefore, count on three rows of seats and capacity of 7 passengers.
2022 Ford Everest Engines
When it comes to the powertrain, we know for sure that the old 3.2-liter turbodiesel will be replaced. Instead, the current optional 2.0-liter unit will become standard. This turbodiesel puts out around 157kW of power and 500Nm of torque. On the other hand, the upgrade will come in the form of a larger 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, the same one that powers the F-150. This one puts out around 186kW of power and 600Nm of torque. Finally, we could see a gasoline engine in the offer as well. That would be a 2.3-liter turbo-four.
All engines would come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Base models will feature rear-wheel drive, while the 4WD layout would be optional.
2022 Ford Everest Raptor
One of the rumors we can hear about the next-generation model is that it could come in a hi-performance version as well. It would come as the 2022 Ford Everest Raptor and it would come with all kinds of upgrades. Naturally, one of the first things that come to mind is the engine. Reports suggest a 2.7-liter V6, the same one that is expected to power the new Ranger Raptor. This unit puts out around 231kW of power and 540Nm and torque and promises pretty impressive performance.
Besides the more powerful engine, the Everest Raptor would also come with other kinds of upgrades, starting from a more rugged suspension, with more travel and other upgrades. Furthermore, we also count on unique styling solutions, in the same fashion as the Ranger Raptor.
2022 Ford Everest Release Date and Price
We believe that the all-new 2022 Ford Everest could arrive already by the end of this year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect significant differences compared to the current model, which starts a little bit over 50.000 AUD. Key competitors would be models like Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport etc.
