The current generation of Cadillac’s flagship SUV arrived last year and with that said, it’s pretty much obvious that the 2022 Cadillac Escalade won’t come with too many changes. It will represent the second production year of the generation, so anything but a few additions to the list of standard equipment would be a real surprise. Still, we can find some reports that speculate about the possible hi-performance version, which would come with a twin-turbo V8, but that’s just a rumor for now.
All in all, you may count on a familiar layout, on a design that is based on GM’s popular full-size trucks. Compared to the previous generation, the current model is better in every aspect and there is no doubt that it can successfully compete not just with Navigator, but with German rivals as well. Since there are no significant changes to come, we expect to see the 2022 Cadillac Escalade sometime late in the year, probably in the last quarter.
2022 Cadillac Escalade Design
When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade will definitely continue in the same way. The new model rides on the company’s new T1 platform, the same one that underprints the new Suburban, which made this SUV significantly lighter compared to the previous generation. As a result, the new Escalade is not just more efficient, but also more fun to drive. Speaking of the ride quality, a big thanks also goes to the independent rear suspension, which is standard and which has a big impact on the cargo volume as well.
Visually, the current model looks very fresh and we don’t expect any change for the next year. Of course, there is always room for new color options, but the overall styling will continue in the same way, using the Escala concept as an inspiration. This SUV looks very mature and very appealing and from the aesthetical standpoint, it’s hard to find any bigger complaint.
The cabin design of this SUV looks amazing and therefore, we don’t expect the 2022 Cadillac Escalade interior to be any different. Of course, the first thing you’ll notice is the dashboard, which is highlighted by those three massive screens, which make this model look very futuristic. The rest of the cabin comes rather in a classic manner, making the whole package look very elegant. We particularly like the choice of materials, while fit and finish are excellent.
The amount of passenger rooms is great. All three rows accommodate adults with east, while the driver’s position is high and provides very good visibility, despite that we are talking about a pretty huge vehicle. The cargo area is even more impressive and offers tremendous amounts of space. You may count on about 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats and 72.9 cubic feet with the third row folded down. The total volume goes up to 121 cubic feet, which is impressive for the class.
This aspect may bring a couple of novelties, but we expect that most things will remain the same. Therefore, the list of standard features should look pretty similar to the current one. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 16.9-inch touch screen, a 7.2-inch digital control panel, a 14.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, a 19-speaker AKG Studio stereo, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, two USB ports, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, HD Radio, a household-style power outlet, proximity keyless entry, remote start, tri-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror etc.
The current list of options includes things like a panoramic sunroof, cabin air ionization, a center console refrigerator and freezer, rear-seat entertainment system, 36-speaker audio system etc.
2022 Cadillac Escalade Engines
When it comes to the powertrain lineup, some rumors suggest that we could see a new, hi-performance version of the SUV. If that happens, we presume this version would use the company’s refined 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8. Still, the fact that this engine is pretty expensive and that it would make the Escalade way too expensive is enough reason to be very skeptical about this scenario.
The rest of the lineup will continue in the same way. Base models will carry on with a well-known 6.2-liter V8, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Of course, there is also the recently-added diesel version, which uses a 3.0-liter V6, good for about 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both engines come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
2022 Cadillac Escalade Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2022 Cadillac Escalade sometime late in the year, probably in the last quarter of the year. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 77.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Lincoln Navigator, BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS etc.
